I didn't give you the gift of life,
But in my heart I know.
The love I feel is deep and real,
As if it had been so.
For us to have each other
Is like a dream come true!
No, I didn't give you
The gift of life,
Life gave me the gift of you.
This lovely poem speaks for adoptive mommies everywhere in simple heartfelt emotion. As an adoptive mother, I know that God’s hand on that process was undeniable. He brought my children to me in unconventional ways, yet His will was done in my families’ life, as it will be done in yours. Joy and peace are freely given to us, not by our circumstances, but by God’s nature.
Psalm 72:12 reads “For He will deliver the needy when he cries for help, The afflicted also, and him who has no helper. He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and the lives of the needy He will save.” God is referring not only to our physical needs, but our emotional and spiritual needs as well. Through faith we gain access to all the gifts that our heavenly Father wants to bestow on us.
In the blink of an eye, your life is about to change! A new baby will be joining your family and you will experience all the magic that entails. God does not want you to stop enjoying life and put everything on hold, until then. He wants you to embrace life and honor the gift of life that He has bestowed upon you!
We will have everlasting riches with our Father in heaven, someday. He doesn’t want us to rush that process either! The journey is, in many ways, more important than the destination. I know you have heard that before, but it really is true. We learn so much by stepping out in faith and just embracing each and every day as the gift that it is.
